Oklahoma has added another receiver to its roster from the transfer portal, with former Washington State player Mackenzie Alleyne announcing his commitment to the Sooners via Instagram on Sunday. Alleyne shares a connection with current offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle and quarterback John Mateer, as they all overlapped at Washington State last season.
Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 185 pounds, Alleyne walked on to the Cougars’ team in 2024. Although he did not participate in any games during his redshirt season, he was actively involved on the scout team. Last year, he played a limited role, recording four receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown as a redshirt freshman. His standout moment came during the Idaho Potato Bowl, where he caught three passes for 63 yards, including his only touchdown.
With three years of eligibility remaining upon joining the Sooners, Alleyne bolsters a receiving corps that is currently undergoing significant reconstruction. Following the graduation of Deion Burks and Keontez Lewis at the end of the 2025 season, Oklahoma is focused on surrounding Mateer with more offensive weapons. Among the recent additions is Trell Harris from Virginia, who had an impressive season with 59 catches for 847 yards and five touchdowns, earning Third Team All-ACC honors.
Additionally, Oklahoma has recruited former Texas receiver Parker Livingstone, who stands 6-4 and contributed 29 receptions for 516 yards and six touchdowns last year. The Sooners have also strengthened their tight end positions by bringing in Hayden Hansen from Florida and Rocky Beers from Colorado State. Both players will work under new tight ends coach Jason Witten to enhance a position group that has struggled in recent years.
As the offseason progresses, the Sooners are utilizing the transfer portal effectively. The current window for players to enter the portal runs from January 2 to January 16, allowing for a strategic approach to roster building as the Sooners move forward. Oklahoma fans can remain optimistic as the program continues to seek out players to enhance its competitiveness for the upcoming season.
