Young farmers and agricultural professionals from Ohio are sharing insightful ideas through the Growing our Generation e-newsletter, which offers monthly updates directly to subscribers. With the Ohio State Fair approaching from July 23 to August 3, 2025, preparations are in full swing to celebrate Ohio agriculture with engaging exhibits, particularly the Land and Living Exhibit in conjunction with the Little Farmers Exhibit.
Lainey Roberts, the lead intern for the Little Farmers Exhibit, highlights the importance of educating children about food and agricultural origins, emphasizing its role in connecting those familiar with farming to those who are not. This initiative aims to cultivate appreciation for farmers and inspire potential future agricultural leaders. Roberts is not only overseeing the current exhibit but is also involved in planning for future events.
Audrey Pinger, another intern, echoes these sentiments, focusing on the significance of early education regarding agriculture. Her involvement extends to staffing and organizing for both this year’s Little Farmers Exhibit and planning for the 2026 Land & Living Exhibit, where new displays will be introduced.
Lilly Cappitte, who has a background as a Little Farmers ambassador, plays a vital role in ensuring daily operations run smoothly. She notes that many fairgoers may lack awareness of agricultural processes, making the exhibit crucial in bridging the knowledge gap. With engaging, hands-on learning opportunities, the Little Farmers Exhibit is designed to inform attendees of all ages about agriculture.
The exhibit offers interactive experiences, from simulated animals to real grains and gardening techniques, allowing children to collect items for a prize at the Ohio Proud Farmer’s Market, the exhibit’s finale. Families are encouraged to visit during the fair dates to explore and learn about Ohio’s rich agricultural heritage.
In addition to the fair activities, the Ohio Farm Bureau is also preparing for their 2026 Winter Leadership Experience, which will take place at Cherry Valley Hotel on January 23-24, 2026.
This initiative reflects a proactive effort to not only celebrate but also educate the next generation about the importance of agriculture, reinforcing Ohio’s deep-rooted connections to this vital industry.
