Sam Dixon, the former running back for Ohio State, has officially committed to South Carolina, marking a new chapter in his collegiate football career. This move came to light on Friday, and Dixon will have three years of eligibility remaining as he joins the Gamecocks.

Standing at 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 210 pounds, Dixon was regarded as a three-star recruit in the 2024 class. He started his journey at Ohio State as a backup, competing against talented players like TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, and James Peoples. Despite the departure of Henderson and Judkins to the NFL following the Buckeyes’ successful national championship campaign, Dixon saw his standing affected when freshman Bo Jackson took the lead as Ohio State’s starting running back. As a result, Dixon found himself at RB5 on the depth chart in 2025, behind Jackson and other standout players.

During his time at Ohio State, Dixon appeared in five games, where he carried the ball 10 times for a total of 62 yards and scored one touchdown. His transfer signals a significant transition, as he becomes the eighth Ohio State player to transfer since entering the transfer portal. Other players making similar moves include quarterback Lincoln Kienholz, running back James Peoples, and wide receiver Bryson Rodgers, among others.

This development offers Dixon a fresh opportunity to showcase his skills at South Carolina and contribute significantly to the team’s success. With an open path ahead, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how his talents will unfold in the competitive landscape of SEC football.
