Former UTSA wide receiver Devin McCuin has officially committed to Ohio State following his entry into the NCAA transfer portal. McCuin spent three impactful seasons at UTSA, where he showcased his talent on the field.

During the 2025 season, McCuin recorded impressive stats with 65 receptions for 726 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 11.2 yards per catch. Over his collegiate career, he amassed 152 catches for a total of 1,696 yards and 16 touchdowns, maintaining an average of 11.2 yards per reception throughout.

As a product of the Class of 2023, McCuin was recognized as a three-star recruit from Jacksonville (Texas) High and ranked as the No. 146 prospect in Texas, the No. 33 athlete nationally, and the No. 859 overall recruit in his class, according to Rivals Industry Ranking.

At Ohio State, McCuin will join a talented receiver corps, including standout Jeremiah Smith. There had been speculation surrounding Smith’s departure from the program; however, he promptly dismissed these rumors via social media, stating, “Not going anywhere,” alongside laughter emojis, putting any concerns of his leaving to rest.

This development comes in the wake of Ohio State’s recent losses in their receiving lineup, with Carnell Tate declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft as anticipated, and true freshman Quincy Porter also entering the transfer portal. While the Buckeyes face significant losses, Smith’s commitment to stay signals a positive outlook for the team as they work to rebound from these setbacks.

Head coach Ryan Day will likely welcome McCuin’s addition as they bolster the roster for the upcoming season. With a mix of seasoned talent and new recruits, the Buckeyes aim to solidify their standing in college football as they prepare for what lies ahead.
