Ohio State football secured a commitment from former Georgia cornerback Dominick Kelly, marking a significant addition to their defensive lineup. Kelly’s commitment on Thursday makes him the second defensive back from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to join Ohio State, following the earlier commitment of former Alabama corner Cam Calhoun.

Originally a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, Kelly signed with the University of Georgia, where he played during his freshman year. In his only season with the Bulldogs, he participated in five games, logging 61 snaps and contributing three tackles to the team’s defense. While Kelly received offers from numerous notable programs such as Southern Cal, Auburn, Florida, Indiana, and Michigan, he had not previously received an offer from Ohio State.

This recruitment comes as Ohio State prepares for changes in their cornerback roster, especially following the loss of Davison Igbinosun, who is heading to the NFL, and the departures of Aaron Scott and Bryce West, who have both entered the transfer portal this offseason. Rising sophomore Devin Sanchez is expected to take on a starting role, with Kelly and Calhoun set to compete for significant playing time.

The addition of Kelly underscores Ohio State’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their defense, particularly in the secondary, and signals promising developments for the program moving forward. As these new recruits integrate into the team dynamic, they may bolster Ohio State’s competitiveness for the upcoming season.
