A flash flood warning has been issued for Ohio County until 1 a.m. Sunday, leading to ongoing rescue efforts for individuals trapped in vehicles and buildings, as stated by Lou Vargo, Director of the Ohio County Emergency Management Agency.
Residents in the areas along National Road from Triadelphia to Valley Grove are strongly advised to either shelter in place or move to higher ground. Ohio County Sheriff Nelson Croft issued a statement emphasizing the importance of staying home. “People need to stay at home if they can. Several county roads are flooded and, as of 9:26 p.m., there have been no reported injuries. It is crucial that drivers refrain from using Peters Run Road, G-C&P Road, and Short Creek Road,” Croft noted.
As of 9:30 p.m. Saturday, the situation has not reported any injuries. However, over 3,000 customers in Ohio County, particularly in the Elm Grove, Triadelphia, and Valley Grove regions, are currently without power, with no restoration information available at this time.
For those in need, Elm Grove Elementary School has been designated as a shelter, as informed by Principal Richard Dunlevy, for individuals who can reach it safely. Residents are encouraged to keep informed through official channels and local Facebook pages for ongoing updates.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the community is coming together to support those affected, showcasing resilience in the face of adversity.
