A firefighter from Glendale has been apprehended in connection with a homicide investigation following the discovery of his wife’s body at their North Hollywood residence. The incident unfolded on Wednesday morning, prompting police to respond to a welfare check requested by the man himself.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the man approached officers at a nearby police station, expressing concerns for his wife’s safety. Officers arrived at the home located on Satsuma Avenue around 4:25 a.m. and found a woman in her 50s, later identified as 55-year-old Mayra Jimenez, deceased with visible signs of multiple blunt force trauma.

The individual who requested the welfare check, identified as Andrew Jimenez, a firefighter and paramedic with the Glendale Fire Department since 2008, was subsequently arrested and booked on suspicion of murder. The investigation revealed that the two were married, and authorities classified the incident as a case of domestic violence.

LAPD homicide investigators are actively working on the case, conducting interviews, reviewing surveillance footage, and processing the crime scene to gather more evidence. In light of these developments, Andrew Jimenez has been placed off duty and is currently on administrative leave. His bail has been set at $2 million.

The City of Glendale has acknowledged the situation in a statement, confirming that they have been informed by the LAPD about the arrest of one of their off-duty firefighters in connection with the ongoing homicide investigation. The LAPD remains the lead agency on this case, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken in the investigation.

This tragic event highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding domestic violence and the devastating impact it can have on families and communities. The Glendale Fire Department, alongside law enforcement, is committed to supporting the investigation and ensuring justice for the victim.
