Ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park, manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on team news during a press conference at the Sobha Realty Training Centre. Arteta discussed the availability of key players Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Noni Madueke.
Arteta expressed optimism about Odegaard’s participation, mentioning, “Martin will be training with us the next two days, so hopefully he’ll be available for the game.” Odegaard’s potential return could provide a boost to the team as they prepare for the Premier League encounter.
Regarding Bukayo Saka, who played 63 minutes in the team’s 2-0 victory against Port Vale in the Carabao Cup, Arteta indicated that Saka’s substitution was pre-planned and not due to an injury. “Yeah, nothing to report there,” Arteta stated. “I think he played the games that we anticipated, he did well, he feels good and he will be training the next few days.”
On the other hand, Noni Madueke’s situation remains uncertain as Arteta confirmed that a scan on Madueke’s injury has not yet taken place. Madueke left the field at halftime during the 1-1 draw with Manchester City the previous weekend. The team is hoping for more clarity after the medical assessment is completed.
There is still no news on the status of other injured players including Piero Hincapie, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus, who are sidelined with groin and knee issues, respectively. The team’s ability to adapt amidst these challenges will be crucial in maintaining their performance in the league.
Arsenal fans will be looking forward to seeing how their team lines up against Newcastle, eagerly anticipating a competitive and dynamic match. The prospect of Odegaard’s return, coupled with the steady presence of Saka, provides a hopeful outlook as Arsenal aims to secure a positive result on Sunday.
