His funeral on September 21 in Glendale, Arizona, was attended by notable figures, including former President Donald Trump, who referred to Kirk as “a friend of mine, a friend of all of ours.”
The suspect in Kirk’s death, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested and has been charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated murder and witness tampering. Local authorities are seeking the death penalty in this case. Robinson’s next court appearance is slated for October 30.
In a strong show of solidarity, both chambers of Congress adopted resolutions to establish October 14 as a National Day of Remembrance for Kirk following his assassination.
