Obituary Submission Made Easy: What You Need to Know

To submit an obituary, please email your information to obits@pioneerpress.com. Unfortunately, submissions cannot be made through our website. For any inquiries, you can reach our obituary desk at 651-228-5263.

Here are the details you need to provide:

**General Information:**
– Your full name
– Your address (City, State, Zip Code)
– Your phone number
– An alternate phone number (if applicable)

**Obituary Details:**
– Name of the deceased
– The text of the obituary
– A photo, preferably in JPEG or PDF format (TIF and other formats are acceptable, and we will notify you if any issues arise)
– Desired ad run dates

Please note that a discount is available for running the obituary for multiple days, but this must be arranged when placing the initial order. If you include a photo, it must appear on all run dates for the discount to apply.

**Verification of Death:**
To proceed with publishing an obituary, we require the name and phone number of the funeral home or cremation service handling the arrangements for verification purposes. If a donation has been made to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program or a similar initiative, their contact number is necessary. Alternatively, a death certificate can be provided for verification, but only one of these options is needed. It’s important to allow sufficient time for us to contact the funeral home, especially during their limited weekend hours.

**Guestbook and Website Policy:**
We cannot reference other media with a guestbook or obituary placed elsewhere in our print and online formats. However, we can include a link for the funeral home or a family email for contact purposes.

**Obituary Process:**
After your submission is received, we will send you a proof via fax or email for your review before publication. This proof includes the price and the scheduled appearance dates in the newspaper. Please review this carefully. Any changes or errors must be reported prior to publication due to deadlines. We cannot take responsibility for mistakes after the final proof has been approved.

**Online Presence:**
All obituaries will be available on TwinCities.com with a permanent online guestbook. If you wish to remove this presence, please contact us. Any changes to an online obituary can be managed through our obituary desk.

**Payment Information:**
Pre-payment is required for all obituary notices prior to publication. Payment can be handled over the phone. Acceptable payment methods include credit cards (by phone only), EFT (check by phone), or cash at our front counter during specified hours.

**Rates:**
– The minimum charge is $162 for the first 10 lines.
– Additional lines are $12.20 each.
– If the ad consists of fewer than 10 lines, the minimum rate applies.
– Discounts apply for second run dates.

**Deadlines:**
Please adhere to the deadlines to ensure the obituary is published as requested.

**Memoriam Requests:**
Memoriam submissions are different from obituaries, focusing on remembrances of loved ones. The rates for a memoriam differ, and you can contact us for more information at 651-228-5280. Submit memoriam ads to memoriams@pioneerpress.com or call for details during our working hours.
