It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lonnie Mack Martin, who left us on December 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with complications from COPD and RA. Surrounded by his loving soulmate, Kathleen Little, in the comfort of their home in Rohnerville, Lonnie’s journey on Earth has come to an end, but his spirit will certainly live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Lonnie was not only a beloved son, nephew, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; he was also a loyal friend to many. Known for his gallant heart and infectious zest for life, he cherished his family and delighted in the simple joys of living. His passions included buck hunting, country music, drag racing, coaching youth sports, and supporting his son James in regional baseball competitions. Family vacations to Maui were among the cherished memories he created with his loved ones.

Born in Fresno and raised in Humboldt County, Lonnie faced adversity early on when the Martin family lost their home to floods in 1964. Despite these challenges, he found joy in spending time with his family, camping, and honing skills in various trades, including automotive mechanics. His impressive engineering savvy allowed him to build and drive an array of classic cars, reflecting his deep passion for automobiles.

Lonnie was described as having the “eyes of an eagle and a heart of gold,” with a sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. His presence was characterized by laughter and a warm, caring demeanor, qualities that earned him the affection of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His love for life was reflected in his ability to find happiness in everyday moments, whether it was tending to his garden or enjoying time with Kathleen.

Lonnie is survived by his devoted partner, Kathleen Little, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by numerous family members, including his parents, sister, and beloved grandson.

A celebration of Lonnie’s life will take place on January 31 at the Veteran’s Hall in Fortuna, where family and friends are encouraged to bring cherished photos and stories to pay tribute to his remarkable life. Following the festivities, he will be laid to rest at the Sunrise Cemetery in Fortuna.

As we mourn the loss of such a vibrant individual, it is also a reminder to treasure each moment with our loved ones, for life is indeed a precious gift. Our thoughts are with the Martin family during this challenging time, and we express our gratitude to all who have supported them in their time of need.
