A late afternoon vehicle crash on Tuesday sent three individuals, including a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office deputy, to local hospitals. The incident took place around 5:45 p.m. on January 6, prompting the Oakdale Police Department to respond to the scene at the intersection of Yosemite Avenue and E Street.

Preliminary reports indicate that the sheriff’s deputy was heading northbound on North Yosemite Avenue as a vehicle traveling southbound attempted to make an eastbound turn onto East E Street. This maneuver resulted in a collision with the deputy’s vehicle.

The deputy experienced minor injuries and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. The southbound vehicle, driven by an adult male accompanied by a juvenile passenger, was also involved in the incident. Both individuals sustained minor injuries, with the adult transported to the hospital. Although the juvenile was initially admitted to a local hospital in stable condition, the decision was made to airlift the juvenile for more advanced medical care due to the uncertainty surrounding the full extent of their injuries.

The Oakdale Police Department Traffic Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have indicated that the investigation is ongoing as they continue to gather further details and evidence regarding the incident.

This accident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly at intersections where visibility and traffic patterns can lead to unforeseen hazards. The community is hoping for a swift recovery for all those involved.
