A cold front is set to bring frigid temperatures and the potential for a wintry mix of rain and snow to New York City on Thursday, as predicted by meteorologists. On Wednesday night, temperatures will be relatively mild at around 39 degrees Fahrenheit, though light drizzles may precede a significant drop in temperature.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Scott Homan explained that as the rain clears out, residents can expect a mix of clouds and sun, accompanied by breezy conditions. Despite chances of a rain or snow shower, no significant accumulation is anticipated, with high temperatures lingering just above freezing at around 42 degrees Fahrenheit on Thursday.

However, temperatures are expected to dive sharply overnight, possibly resulting in what could be the coldest night of the season. Homan indicated that temperatures may plunge to around 24 degrees, marking a notable shift in the season’s chill.

On Friday, New Yorkers will continue to experience cold weather, though a brief glimpse of sunshine may provide some relief. The high is projected to be around 35 degrees Fahrenheit, though it will still feel quite chilly.

This changing weather offers a reminder that winter is well on its way, encouraging residents to prepare for the colder conditions ahead.
