Notre Dame Football Kicks Off ‘Cleats For A Cause’ Initiative!

The University of Notre Dame’s football program is set to collaborate again with Under Armour in 2024 for the ‘Cleats For A Cause’ campaign, aimed at supporting five local charities.

On September 21, 2024, during the team’s walk from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart to Notre Dame Stadium ahead of the Miami-Ohio game, each football player will sport exclusive Under Armour Slip Speed shoes. Prior to and following the game, an online auction will be held for these special shoes. Additionally, custom cleats, designed with inspiration from select Notre Dame football players, will also be available for bidding.

Graduate linebacker Jack Kiser, who chairs the initiative’s player committee, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Our team is passionate about this initiative, and throughout the offseason and years prior, we have built deep relationships with these charities. After the success of Cleats For a Cause in 2022, it means a lot to us to use our platform to bring awareness and financial support to these organizations doing important work in the community.”

The ‘Cleats For A Cause’ initiative will benefit the South Bend Center for the Homeless, the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County, the Casie Center (Child Abuse Services Investigation & Education), Cultivate Food Rescue, and the Logan Center. Proceeds from the shoe auction will be divided equally among these charities, with each charity represented by an equal number of shoes across the team.

Throughout the offseason, Notre Dame Football student-athletes have committed significant time to volunteer work and partnerships with the five local charities involved in the initiative.

The shoes and cleats have been painted by Jerry Barca, a current freshman at Notre Dame, Class of ’28.

Further details regarding the ‘Cleats For A Cause’ initiative will be announced in the coming weeks.
