The University of Notre Dame football program will continue its collaboration with Under Armour in 2024 for the ‘Cleats For A Cause’ initiative, which aims to support five local charities.
As part of this initiative, every football student-athlete will wear special-edition Under Armour Slip Speed shoes during the team’s walk from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart to Notre Dame Stadium on September 21, 2024, ahead of the Miami-Ohio football game. An online auction for the shoes will take place before and after the game, alongside the auction of custom cleats inspired by select student-athletes.
Graduate linebacker Jack Kiser, who chairs the player committee for the initiative, expressed the team’s commitment to the cause. “Our team is passionate about this initiative, and throughout the offseason and years prior, we have built deep relationships with these charities. After the success of Cleats For a Cause in 2022, it means a lot to us to use our platform to bring awareness and financial support to these organizations doing important work in the community,” he stated.
The ‘Cleats For A Cause’ initiative will benefit the South Bend Center for the Homeless, the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County, the Casie Center (Child Abuse Services Investigation & Education), Cultivate Food Rescue, and the Logan Center. Proceeds from the auction will be equally distributed among the five charities, with a balanced number of shoes representing each charity across the football roster.
Throughout the offseason, Notre Dame Football student-athletes have dedicated significant time to volunteering and partnering with the five local charities participating in the initiative.
The unique designs for each pair of shoes and cleats were created by Jerry Barca, a current freshman at Notre Dame.
More details about the ‘Cleats For A Cause’ initiative will be announced in the coming weeks.
