McDonald’s is bringing back nostalgia with the launch of a new adult Happy Meal that features collectible cups celebrating memorable items and characters from its history. This Collector’s Meal, available at all McDonald’s locations starting today, includes six cup designs that pay homage to past collectibles, such as the Cowpoke McNugget Buddy from 1988, the McDonald’s Dragster from 1993, and the Hello Kitty Crew Keychain from 2000.
The cup designs include themes such as Barbie & Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola, Hello Kitty & Peanuts, Shrek, Jurassic Park & Minions, and McDonald’s itself, showcasing images of the Grimace Glass, Boo Buckets, and Funny Fry Friends.
Each Collector’s Meal is available all day and offers a variety of options. For breakfast, customers can enjoy a Sausage McMuffin with Egg, hash browns, and hot coffee. At lunch and dinner, customers can choose from a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac sandwich, accompanied by fries and a soft drink.
In Indianapolis, the prices for the Big Mac and McNuggets versions of the meal were reported to be $11.58 each, with the menu unavailable via the app in the area on Tuesday afternoon.
Enhancing the nostalgic experience, McDonald’s has introduced a Snapchat augmented reality feature that allows customers to interact with the cups by scanning them or visiting McDonald’s Snapchat profile.
To celebrate the launch, McDonald’s will host several in-person events on August 17. Activities will include a pool party with DJ sets and special drinks at Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, as well as a complimentary ride on the Phoenix Roller Coaster at Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park at Coney Island, with a Collector’s Meal cup serving as the ticket.
The Collector’s Meal will be available for a limited time.
