A flash flood alert is currently in effect for the northern regions of Viti Levu, covering areas from Lautoka to Ba, as well as the interior regions including Ra and Naitasiri. Similar alerts are also in place for the Northern Division.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a trough of low pressure is causing persistent cloud cover and rain, significantly impacting the northern parts of the country. The adverse weather conditions are expected to lead to isolated heavy rainfall, raising the risk of flooding in drainage systems, small streams, low-water bridges, roads, and low-lying properties.

Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution during their travels, avoid flooded roads, and refrain from attempting to cross flooded waterways. The public is also advised to stay vigilant and keep updated with official weather reports to ensure safety during this challenging weather event.

By remaining informed and cautious, residents can better navigate the effects of the heavy rainfall and manage potential risks associated with flooding in affected areas.
