Severe weather swept through North Texas on Thursday, leaving approximately 7,000 Oncor customers without power as the storms passed through the region. As of 9:50 p.m. Thursday, about 7,062 residents in the Dallas-Fort Worth area were still experiencing outages, according to the Oncor outage map.
Restoration efforts are underway, with estimated times varying by county. Power is projected to be restored by late Thursday night around 11:00 p.m., with some areas expected to remain without electricity until as late as 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Oncor is actively monitoring the storm system’s developments as it continues to restore power to affected customers.
Early Thursday morning, North Texas experienced heavy rainfall, with totals reaching up to three inches in some areas. This prompted a flash flood warning that was in effect until 6:45 a.m. for parts of western Collin, northern Dallas, southeastern Denton, and Tarrant counties. The National Weather Service reported that heavy rain returned to the Dallas-Fort Worth region at around 4:45 p.m.
