North Texas is set to receive some much-needed rain after enduring several weeks of scorching weather. According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a storm system is expected to weaken as it approaches the Red River on Monday, June 30, possibly bringing showers to the Metroplex in the evening and overnight hours.

The most significant rainfall is anticipated north of U.S. Highway 380, as well as along and north of Interstate 20. While severe storms are unlikely, residents should be aware of potential lightning and gusty winds associated with the system.

In addition to the Monday forecast, chances for storms will re-emerge on Tuesday, July 1, primarily during the afternoon and evening. Similar to the previous day, the greatest likelihood of storms will occur along and north of I-20.

Despite the incoming rain, North Texans can expect temperatures to remain quite high, hovering in the mid-90s. As families prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, the temperature is projected to reach around 96 degrees, so outdoor plans should consider the heat.

This week’s forecast offers a glimmer of hope for relief from the heat as rainfall could provide a refreshing break, while still requiring residents to stay informed of the weather conditions.
