There will be no elections taking place in Illinois this Tuesday, despite other states moving forward with their voting processes. The next scheduled election in Illinois is set for March 17, 2026, which is approximately four months away.

Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray has addressed the numerous inquiries received through phone calls and social media regarding voting locations and ballot details in Sangamon County. He clarified that while many people are erroneously linking November 4th, which falls on the first Tuesday of the month, to an election day in Illinois, there will be no elections this year. “The public should know that Illinois does not have a November fall election this year,” Gray stated in a news release.

He encouraged residents to take the time to verify their voter registration status ahead of the upcoming Primary Election. “Use this reminder of a potential election as a good time to ensure that you are registered to vote,” he advised.

In a recent conversation with WTAX News, Gray reassured constituents of the integrity of future elections. He emphasized that the election office is committed to making the voting process as safe and secure as possible, countering any doubts about election security.

Additionally, Monday marks the last opportunity for candidates to file their petitions for the 2026 primary election. Gray, who will be seeking re-election, is among those preparing to enter the political race.

As the focus shifts towards the future primaries, residents are reminded of the importance of staying informed and engaged in the electoral process.
