The Miami RedHawks will host the Toledo Rockets on Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m., available to watch on ESPN+. A victory for Miami would mark their first Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular-season title since the 2004-05 season. The RedHawks are currently the only undefeated team in the nation with an impressive 29-0 record, including 16-0 in MAC play, achieving the best start in program history. This performance has also set a new Miami record for most wins in a season, surpassing the previous high of 25 set last year. The team has enjoyed an extraordinary run, with the longest winning streak in MAC history as well as the most consecutive road wins, recording 14 overall and 13 in a single season.

Toledo enters the matchup with a record of 16-13, including 10-6 in the conference, and is currently riding a three-game winning streak against Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Ohio. Last season, the Rockets finished 18-15 and were projected to place sixth in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Men’s Basketball Poll. Guided by the seasoned head coach Tod Kowalczyk, who is in his 16th year with the program, Toledo looks to shake off past results against Miami.

In terms of individual performance, junior guard Sonny Wilson has been pivotal for the Rockets, averaging 17.3 points per game and contributing with 4.5 assists. Freshman guard Leroy Blyden Jr. adds 15.9 points and leads the team in steals. Senior forward Sean Craig is the team’s leading rebounder, while junior center Austin Parks has recorded the most blocks.

The upcoming game will be significant, marking the 142nd encounter between the two programs. Historically, Miami trails Toledo with a record of 70-71, although they have fared better in Oxford with a 43-23 record at home. Currently, the RedHawks are on a two-game winning streak against the Rockets, having last bested them 87-73.

Miami’s team has also made noteworthy strides this season, recently achieving its highest ranking since 1978, moving to No. 19 in the AP Top 25. They are not only the first MAC team to be included in the AP poll since the 2018-19 season but have also extended their home win streak to an astounding 30 games, tying them for second-longest in the nation. Their remarkable journey continues as they aim for a historic finish to the season.
