The son of a New Jersey woman who was left visually impaired after a violent road rage incident is calling for justice against the man accused of shooting her. Victor Feliz-Arias expressed his desire for legal action following the incident that occurred on September 11 near Stockton University in Galloway Township, where his mother, Maritza Arias, was shot.
Court records indicate the encounter began when a driver aggressively cut off Maritza’s vehicle at the intersection of Jimmie Leeds Road and Vera King Farris Drive. After passing the aggressive driver, Maritza reported that the individual pulled up beside her near the entrance of Stockton University. According to Victor, Maritza relayed a threatening message from the driver, which was quickly followed by gunfire through her closed window.
The shooting prompted an extensive lockdown at Stockton University as authorities pursued the suspect, who fled the scene. Police later captured and arrested the suspect, identified as Heinz.
Victor Feliz-Arias expressed gratitude for his mother’s survival, emphasizing the uncertainty surrounding her vision recovery. He remains firm in his demand for the perpetrator to face strict legal consequences, saying, “I just want justice, that’s all I want, justice. Lock him up and don’t let him out.”
This tragic incident underscores a troubling trend in the U.S., where road rage shootings have surged dramatically, experiencing more than a 400% increase from 2014 to the previous year.
The suspect, Heinz, has a background as an actor and producer, having had roles in various films and television shows, including “J. Edgar,” “The Prestige,” and an episode of “The Sopranos.” He is also related to the late Martin Richards, a notable Hollywood film producer. These details add an unexpected dimension to the case, drawing attention to the need for heightened vigilance and legal responses to road rage violence.
