Nikocado Avocado, the popular YouTube mukbang star, recently disclosed that he has secretly shed hundreds of pounds while giving fans the impression that he remained dangerously overweight. His revelation came through a new video titled “Two Steps Ahead” that was published on Friday.
With a following of 3.9 million subscribers and 800 million total views, Avocado, who considers himself the “King of Mukbangs”—a Korean trend where individuals consume large quantities of food on camera—has been on a private weight loss journey for the past two years, during which he shared only pre-recorded content with his audience.
In his latest video, the Ukrainian-born American stated his previous weight was 359 pounds, and he has now lost 250 pounds. He began the video while wearing a Panda mask, emphasizing his forward-thinking approach. “I am always—two steps ahead. This has been the greatest social experiment of my entire life,” he remarked.
Avocado described his audience as “unwell, disoriented beings” searching for captivating stories, observing how they invest themselves in the narratives of influencers. “It’s compelling to watch,” he added, likening his viewers to ants on an ant farm, consuming everything they are told.
Upon removing the mask, he showcased his transformation and outlined his intentions further. “Today, I woke up from a very long dream and also from having lost 250 pounds off of my body,” he said, reflecting on how people were quick to label him as fat, sick, and irrelevant just a day prior. He criticized societal behaviors, labeling himself the villain of his own story, asserting that fans would continue to consume news about him as long as he presented himself that way.
In another video on a separate channel, Avocado admitted to not having created content for nearly two years. While he last recorded a mukbang three months ago, all previous uploads had been filmed well in advance.
However, he quickly returned to form, presenting a massive tray of black bean noodles in what some observers considered a return to his excesses.
Fans expressed their surprise and astonishment in the comments. One user remarked, “I think we all failed the social experiment,” while another commented on the relief that he is alive and thriving rather than facing the potential consequences of his previous weight. Some speculated that he might have used weight loss medication, with comments highlighting the effectiveness of the drug Ozempic.
