Nicola Demaine has officially commenced her role as the head coach for the Fiji Kulas at the Fiji FA Academy in Suva, marking her return to a familiar environment where she previously served as a development officer. With a wealth of coaching experience under her belt, Demaine is determined to usher in a new era for women’s football in Fiji, focusing on both senior and youth teams.
As part of her responsibilities, she will oversee the Under-16 and Under-19 programs, which are essential to strengthening the national football pathway. Demaine expressed her enthusiasm about returning to Fiji, stating, “I’m really excited to be here in Fiji and to come back with more coaching experience to make a difference in a different way.”
With an important tournament approaching, Demaine has made the senior Kulas squad her top priority. Her immediate focus is on creating a professional atmosphere, assessing player fitness, and establishing a cohesive style of play in preparation for their opening match against New Caledonia. To facilitate this, she plans to gather the squad early next week, allowing players to recover from their current commitments.
Demaine’s familiarity with the Pacific football scene has enabled her to quickly acclimate to her new role. She is enthusiastic about collaborating with local coaches and staff to swiftly identify the best team possible. Beyond the immediate tournament goals, Demaine is committed to fully understanding Fiji’s football landscape and developing effective pathways from grassroots levels to the senior national team.
With her clear vision and enthusiasm, Demaine’s leadership promises to inspire a stronger future for women’s football in Fiji.
