Nicola Demaine has officially taken the helm as the head coach of the Fiji Kulas at the Fiji FA Academy in Suva, marking a significant return as she previously worked there as a development officer. With extensive coaching experience, Demaine aims to foster a new era for women’s football in Fiji, concentrating on both senior and youth teams.
One of her primary responsibilities includes overseeing the Under-16 and Under-19 programs, which play a crucial role in enhancing the national football pathway. Expressing her excitement upon returning to Fiji, Demaine remarked, “I’m really excited to be here in Fiji and to come back with more coaching experience to make a difference in a different way.”
With an important tournament on the horizon, Demaine has prioritized the senior Kulas squad. Her immediate focus lies in establishing a professional environment, evaluating player fitness, and developing a cohesive style of play in preparation for their opening match against New Caledonia. She has scheduled a gathering for the squad early next week to allow players to recuperate from their current commitments.
Demaine’s prior experience within the Pacific football scene has facilitated a smooth transition into her new role. She is eager to collaborate with local coaches and staff to swiftly assemble the strongest team possible. Beyond short-term tournament objectives, Demaine is dedicated to fully comprehending Fiji’s football landscape and cultivating effective pathways from grassroots to the senior national team.
With her strong leadership and enthusiastic vision, Demaine’s appointment heralds a promising future for women’s football in Fiji, inspiring both players and fans alike.
