Nick Cannon took a poignant moment to honor his late son Zen on what would have been Zen’s fourth birthday. Zen tragically passed away at just five months old in 2021 due to brain cancer. Together with Zen’s mother, Alyssa Scott, Nick established the Zen’s Light Foundation, an initiative aimed at supporting research, providing resources for families dealing with pediatric cancer, and fostering healing through remembrance.
This year, they launched a new initiative called Zen’s Light: A Celebration of Life Candle. Proceeds from the candle sales will directly assist families who are navigating the challenges of childhood cancer and serious illnesses. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Nick expressed how Zen’s spirit continues to inspire others through their foundation’s efforts.
“We celebrate what would have been my son Zen’s fourth birthday. Though he was with us for a brief time, his light continues to inspire others through the work of the Zen’s Light Foundation,” Nick wrote alongside a video of him lighting a candle and visiting a hospital.
He also encouraged others to join in remembering Zen by purchasing the candle, with all funds raised going toward assisting families affected by pediatric illnesses. “Thank you for keeping his spirit alive. Purchase a candle today at www.zenslightfoundation.org,” he urged.
Nick is a father to several children from different relationships, including his twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey, and multiple younger children with various partners.
The efforts surrounding Zen’s memory offer hope and support to families facing the difficult realities of childhood cancer, turning personal tragedy into a source of inspiration and positive change in the community.
