Miami police have made public bodycam footage of a traffic stop involving NFL star Tyreek Hill, who was forcibly removed from his vehicle and handcuffed. The incident occurred while Hill was en route to Hard Rock Stadium on the day of the season opener. Following the stop, one of the officers involved has been reassigned to administrative duties while an investigation is conducted. Two of Hill’s Miami Dolphins teammates, Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith, were also present during the incident.

The Dolphins issued a statement expressing their disappointment with the aggressive behavior shown toward Hill and the other players, calling for accountability for the officers involved. Hill has stated that the officer placed on administrative duties should face immediate termination, criticizing the excessive use of force displayed during the encounter. “Each action that a law enforcement official takes is governed by standard operating procedures,” he remarked through a statement from his lawyer. The local police union defended the officers, claiming their actions were appropriate.

The traffic stop took place near the team’s stadium, with the bodycam footage capturing an exchange that began when Hill’s vehicle was pulled over. An officer approached and questioned why Hill was not wearing his seatbelt. After a brief dialogue, Hill requested to receive his ticket quickly to avoid being late. When Hill rolled up his window, the officer insisted he keep it down and instructed him to exit the vehicle. Officers proceeded to pull Hill from the car and placed him face down on the ground. As Hill expressed his confusion regarding the officer’s conduct, he mentioned recovering from recent knee surgery. Campbell and Smith also arrived at the scene and reported being handcuffed while attempting to de-escalate the situation.

Despite the turmoil, the players were eventually released and went on to participate in the game.
