NFL Star Tyreek Hill in Controversial Traffic Stop: Bodycam Footage Released

Miami police have unveiled bodycam footage from a traffic stop involving NFL star Tyreek Hill, who was removed from his car and handcuffed by officers. The incident occurred as Hill was heading to Hard Rock Stadium shortly before the season opener. Authorities have confirmed that one officer from the stop has been reassigned to administrative duties while an investigation is conducted. Two of Hill’s Miami Dolphins teammates, Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith, were also present during the encounter.

In a statement released by the team, they expressed concern about the “overly aggressive and violent conduct” displayed toward Hill and the other players, calling for disciplinary action against the involved officers. Hill himself stated that the officer should be terminated, asserting that the officer’s actions were excessive and reckless, not adhering to standard operating procedures. In contrast, the local police union defended the officers’ actions during the traffic stop.

The stop occurred near the Dolphins’ home stadium, with the footage starting as Hill’s vehicle was pulled over. The interaction escalated quickly as Hill expressed frustration with the officer’s approach. When questioned about his seatbelt, Hill requested a ticket so he could continue on his way. After some back-and-forth, Hill rolled up his window, prompting the officer to demand compliance, leading to Hill being pulled from the vehicle and placed face down on the pavement. Hill mentioned having recently undergone knee surgery during the incident, while Campbell, attempting to intercede, was also handcuffed. Despite the altercation, the players made it to the football game later that day.
