Kyren Lacy, the wide receiver for Louisiana State University and a prospective candidate for the NFL Draft, is currently wanted by the Louisiana State Police amid serious legal allegations, including negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless driving. The charges stem from a tragic incident on December 17, which resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall.
According to the authorities, Lacy was allegedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger at a high rate of speed on Louisiana State Highway 20 when he crossed into oncoming traffic in a No-Passing-Zone. In an attempt to evade a potential collision, a pickup truck swerved to avoid Lacy, leading to another vehicle, a 2017 Kia Cadenza, swerving left to dodge Lacy’s car. Unfortunately, this maneuver resulted in a head-on collision with a 2017 Kia Sorento that was traveling southbound. Mr. Hall, a passenger in the Kia Sorento, succumbed to his injuries days later in the hospital.
Following the crash, Lacy allegedly fled the scene without providing assistance or informing authorities of his involvement. Consequently, officials have issued an arrest warrant for him.
Currently, law enforcement is in contact with Lacy and his legal team, arranging for him to turn himself in. Prior to this incident, Lacy had announced on December 19, just two days post-accident, that he would be declaring for the NFL Draft.
This situation serves as a sobering reminder of the responsibilities that come with driving and the potential consequences of reckless behavior. It highlights the tragic impact such actions can have on innocent lives. As more information comes to light regarding this case, it will be crucial to approach the topic with sensitivity while recognizing the need for accountability.
