More than half of the NFL’s 14 playoff spots have now been secured following an exciting Week 16. In the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers all clinched their playoff berths. Over in the AFC, the New England Patriots secured their spot during Sunday night’s game, and with the Indianapolis Colts’ defeat on Monday night, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, and Buffalo Bills also joined the playoff picture.

As of now, the Denver Broncos have the opportunity to claim the No. 1 seed in the AFC, while the Seahawks and 49ers are vying for the top position in the NFC.

In the AFC, the playoff hunt remains fierce, with the Indianapolis Colts (8-7) and Baltimore Ravens (7-8) still vying for contention. Monday night’s loss for the Colts not only cleared a path for the Jaguars, Chargers, and Bills but also allowed the Broncos to maintain their top seed despite their recent loss to the Jaguars. The Pittsburgh Steelers solidified their position in the AFC North with a victory over the Detroit Lions, taking advantage of the Ravens’ defeat.

Meanwhile, in the NFC, the playoff landscape is equally competitive. The 49ers’ clinching, alongside the Lions’ setback, positioned the NFC West with three postseason teams. Chicago secured their place in the playoffs with a win over the Packers, putting them in a strong position to potentially win the NFC North, although they face challenging matchups against the 49ers and Lions in the coming weeks.

The Carolina Panthers took control of the NFC South by defeating the Buccaneers, and they are set to meet again in Week 18, promising an exciting showdown that will have significant implications for the division title.

As we look ahead to the playoff schedule, the wild-card round is slated for January 10-12, followed by the divisional round on January 17-18. The AFC and NFC championship games will take place on January 25, leading up to Super Bowl LX on February 8 in Santa Clara, California.
