Gary LaBarbera, President of the New York State Building Trades, echoed these sentiments, highlighting that the development of new nuclear plants is crucial for generating reliable energy and fostering local economic growth.

Utility Workers Union of America President James Slevin and Laborers’ International Union of North America Vice President Donato A. They noted that advanced nuclear technology has advanced significantly and is an integral talent pipeline for skilled workers.

Industry leaders, including Randy Wolken of the Manufacturers Association of Central New York and Todd Tranum of the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier, praised the potential of nuclear power to support emerging high-tech sectors while contributing to economic expansion. Both highlighted that modern nuclear technology promises safety, reliability, and low-operating costs.

Leaders from various organizations, such as the IBEW and the Business Council of New York State, also commended Governor Hochul’s foresight in fostering a mix of energy sources that will be essential for maintaining the state’s emission reduction and reliability requirements. They agree that nuclear power can play a critical role in achieving these long-term energy and environmental goals, and they welcome the state’s dedicated approach toward exploring innovative solutions.

The New York Farm Bureau also weighed in, suggesting that as the state looks to transition away from fossil fuels, nuclear power should not be overlooked as a clean energy source that promises employment benefits and sustainability.

This robust advocacy for nuclear power reflects a growing awareness of its role in a diverse and sustainable energy portfolio, showcasing the potential for job creation and economic revitalization through cleaner energy solutions.
