Senator Katie Britt, a Republican from Alabama, expressed her support on Tuesday for the recent appointments announced by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, which include key leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Twinkle Cavanaugh has been named the state director for Rural Development in Alabama. Cavanaugh brings experience from her long tenure as president of the Alabama Public Service Commission, a position she has held since 2012. Additionally, Monica Carroll was appointed as the state executive director for Alabama’s Farm Service Agency. Carroll has been involved with the Alabama Resource Conservation and Development Council and contributes to the Alabama Farmers Federation State Women’s Leadership Committee.
Senator Britt praised the appointments, thanking President Trump and Secretary Rollins for selecting capable leaders who prioritize the needs of Alabama’s family farmers and rural communities. She highlighted their understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by farmers, emphasizing their role in enhancing food security for both the state and the nation.
Secretary Rollins echoed these sentiments, stating that the new appointees are committed to uplifting rural America and supporting farmers and ranchers as they implement policies designed to benefit the agricultural sector under Trump’s America First agenda.
The appointments of Cavanaugh and Carroll are seen as positive steps towards empowering rural America’s economic growth and ensuring that the local agricultural community has strong advocates in government, fostering a hopeful outlook for Alabama’s farmers and ranchers.
