Lautoka Hospital Debuts Prefabricated Outpatient Pharmacy as Fiji Expands Access

New prefab pharmacy at Lautoka Hospital boosts Fiji’s outpatient services

A newly built prefabricated pharmacy is set to significantly improve outpatient services at Lautoka Hospital, which is managed by Aspen. This initiative is part of a broader government effort to enhance access to essential pharmacy services within the Lautoka community.

During a recent site visit, Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa commended the dedication of the Ministry’s team and their partners, highlighting the project as a testament to the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare closer to the citizens. The new facility will serve as the Outpatient Pharmacy Dispensary and is designed to streamline patient flow, thus improving access to necessary medications and enriching the overall patient experience at Lautoka Hospital.

Ravunawa also acknowledged the Kamikamica Health Centre team’s efforts in maintaining high service standards in the face of growing patient demand. There are plans to establish additional prefabricated pharmacies at Kamikamica Health Centre and Ba Aspen Medical Hospital, which will further enhance access to healthcare services in the region.

This new pharmacy represents a significant advancement towards more efficient and patient-centered healthcare delivery throughout Fiji. The development not only improves service in urban areas but also aligns with the government’s wider health initiatives, which focus on strengthening emergency preparedness and responsiveness in medical services nationwide. With ongoing investments in public health infrastructure, there is a promising outlook for healthcare in Fiji, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes and a healthier community.
