Notably, Massad Boulos, a senior adviser for Africa and Trump’s father-in-law, was mentioned as instrumental in reaching this agreement.
In addition to U.S. intervention, Qatar played a vital role in brokering the peace deal, indicating a collaborative international effort towards stabilizing the region. President Trump remarked on the historical violence in the area, indicating his shock at the severity of the conflict, which he described as “one of the worst wars anyone’s ever seen.”
Moreover, the United States stands to benefit from this agreement through access to Congo’s rich supply of cobalt, essential for various technologies. “They’re so honored to be here,” Trump stated, acknowledging the strategic importance of the region.
