VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Owl Creek Landing, a newly opened outdoor entertainment venue conveniently nestled behind the Virginia Aquarium and in proximity to Ocean Breeze Water Park, welcomed its first visitors on June 27.
A highlight of this attraction is the Nautilus Lookout Tower, a striking 65-foot steel structure that provides panoramic views. Developers initially envisioned a height of 125 feet but adjusted the design to fulfill permitting requirements.
Visitors will appreciate the area’s abundant shade, as developers have preserved numerous trees, enhancing the experience of the nearly half-mile treetop walkway and unique children’s treehouses. Bahman Azarm, CEO of Outdoor Venture Group, mentioned that the team has already planted 5,000 ferns and intends to add more greenery in the future.
Owl Creek Landing is generating excitement with the upcoming addition of the nation’s longest stainless-steel slide, strategically located at the center of the Nautilus Tower. Builders are currently awaiting a final component from Germany, with plans to open the slide by the end of July. The design prioritizes rider comfort; most of the slide is enclosed, and guests will use specially designed mats for their descent.
Azarm described the experience saying, “It is in the trees and it is kind of protected by the tower itself. Secondly, by being in a mat and holding that, you’re actually not touching anything. When you get out the bottom, I think it’s going to be exhilarating.”
Located at 801 General Booth Boulevard, Owl Creek Landing is owned by Outdoor Venture Group, the same entity behind the Adventure Park. While the Adventure Park targets a more athletic audience, this new facility is designed to be more inclusive, with an ADA-accessible ramp leading up to the tower.
