City Manager Harold Dominguez has announced the appointment of Jenn Ooton to serve as the new Assistant City Manager for the City of Longmont. Ooton brings with her 15 years of extensive experience in local government, most recently holding the position of Senior Project Manager at the City of Aspen, where she was a member of its senior leadership team.

Dominguez emphasized Ooton’s comprehensive background in municipal leadership, highlighting her expertise in community engagement and her ability to tackle complex issues. He stated that her leadership in transformational infrastructure projects and commitment to inclusive governance closely align with the values and strategic goals of Longmont.

Throughout her career in public service, Ooton has focused on areas such as affordable housing policy and resiliency. She previously served as Assistant City Manager in Glenwood Springs, overseeing economic and community development efforts. Notably, her journey began in journalism, where she worked as a reporter and later as the Editorial Page Editor at the Longmont Times-Call, granting her valuable insight into local governmental operations and community needs.

Ooton’s educational background includes a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her commitment to professional development is reflected in her advanced leadership training through the Leading EDGE program and her active participation in professional organizations like the Colorado City and County Management Association, where she recently completed five years on the Board of Directors.

Dominguez further recognized Ooton’s strategic thinking and operational expertise, asserting that her abilities will be pivotal in continuing Longmont’s momentum and addressing the evolving opportunities and challenges the city faces.
