TRENTON – Acting Governor Tahesha Way announced a State of Emergency for New Jersey effective at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in anticipation of a hazardous nor’easter set to impact the state starting Sunday, October 12, and lasting into Monday, October 13. The storm is expected to bring moderate to major coastal flooding, possible inland flash flooding, sustained winds reaching up to 60 mph, and localized rainfall amounts of up to five inches. In addition, significant surf conditions may lead to extensive beach erosion and damages to protective dunes.
“Beginning Sunday, severe weather will move through our area, particularly affecting coastal regions,” Acting Governor Way stated. “I am issuing this State of Emergency for all 21 counties as a precautionary measure, which will empower our emergency services to respond effectively. I strongly urge all residents to remain vigilant, heed local weather updates, and be aware of evacuation routes, only traveling if absolutely necessary.”
The Executive Order No. 399 will remain in effect until officials determine that the emergency has concluded.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by visiting ready.nj.gov for crucial updates regarding weather conditions and safety protocols.
