Representatives from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and Catalyst Bank are set to mark the commencement of a new transitional housing initiative in Opelousas, Louisiana. This significant project, known as The Rig, has been made possible through a $2 million Affordable Housing Program grant awarded by FHLB Dallas in collaboration with Catalyst Bank. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, and will also feature a check presentation.

The Rig aims to provide essential support for men facing challenges such as addiction and homelessness. With a capacity of 57 beds, the facility will not only offer shelter but will also incorporate on-site programming to assist residents in rebuilding their lives.

Local officials will be in attendance, including Mayor Julius Alsandor of Opelousas and representatives from The Refinery Mission, who are crucial to this initiative. The media is invited to cover this important community event.

This development is reminiscent of other housing initiatives aimed at addressing similar issues within communities, reinforcing the significance of transitional housing in providing hope and stability to those in need.

The project is a positive step forward in creating supportive environments for vulnerable populations, illustrating the commitment of local banks and organizations to foster community resilience and recovery.
