The Ra Health Office recently conducted a comprehensive training session for Community Health Workers (CHWs) at the Nasau Health Centre, coinciding with the introduction of several new health initiatives designed to enhance frontline health services. This event was a pivotal step towards bolstering community health across the region.
Specialists from the Department of Oral Health participated in the training, focusing on the early detection of oral cancers and diseases. Additionally, peer educators facilitated discussions on crucial topics such as sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS awareness, and point-of-care testing. This multifaceted approach aimed to ensure that the CHWs are well-equipped to address various health challenges within their communities.
During the training, the Ra Health Office officially launched its TFS Programme, Healthy Setting initiative, and Healthy Workplace programme at the Nasau Health Centre. These programs represent a coordinated effort to improve health outcomes and promote wellness in the surrounding communities.
The initiative particularly benefited CHWs serving the Nasau Medical Area, which encompasses 20 villages and 19 settlements. By enhancing their knowledge and practical skills, the training empowers these health workers to better meet the health needs of their communities. Overall, this initiative not only addresses immediate health concerns but also fosters a foundation for sustainable health improvement in the region.
