New surveillance footage has emerged, providing a clear view of the altercation involving former All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown outside a celebrity boxing match in Miami, which has led to serious legal issues for him. The incident on May 17 has culminated in an attempted murder charge against Brown.
Initially shared on social media, the video was obtained by 7News through a public information request, revealing key moments of the altercation. The footage starts with fans mingling outside the event organized by influencer Adin Ross, showing a serene atmosphere with Brown dressed entirely in olive.
As the situation shifts, Brown is seen in conversation with another individual before the dialogue escalates into physical confrontation. The chaos ensues as onlookers pull out their phones to capture the incident. Brown contends that he was attacked and attempted to defend himself from an alleged jewelry theft.
The footage depicts Brown engaging in a physical exchange with Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, as security personnel attempt to intervene. During the melee, one security guard falls, and Brown takes the opportunity to strike him. Another security guard tries to contain Brown, leading both behind a white SUV where tensions rose. According to the arrest warrant, Brown is accused of grabbing a firearm during this struggle and discharging it.
The crowd’s reaction is immediate; they panic and flee upon hearing the gunshot. Brown’s attorney states that his client fired two warning shots from his personal gun. In response to the serious charges, they are invoking Florida’s “stand your ground” law in Brown’s defense.
Body camera footage from responding Florida Highway Patrol officers shows multiple individuals being detained, with Brown being one of them. After evading capture for several months while in Dubai, he was arrested upon returning to the U.S. in November and has since pleaded not guilty. His attorney clarified that Brown was conducting business in the Middle East, asserting he had no intention of eluding authorities.
A judge is scheduled to consider a motion to dismiss the charges in April. Should the case proceed to trial and lead to a conviction, Brown could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
