The Home Front Command announced updates to its civil-defense policies on Saturday night, allowing for some relaxations in the central region of Israel while maintaining essential protective measures nationwide. Effective from 9 p.m. on Saturday until 8 p.m. on Monday, the revised order enables small public gatherings and regular workdays outside active combat zones, provided individuals can reach a reinforced shelter within the established warning timeframe.

Key points of the updated policy include:

– Educational activities across Israel remain suspended, encompassing classroom teaching, daycare programs, summer camps, and youth organizations. However, specific exceptions will allow special-education programs to operate in protected environments.

– Public gatherings are permitted: up to 30 individuals can convene indoors or outdoors in most areas, contingent upon timely access to designated shelters. In high-risk regions, such as those bordering Lebanon and Syria, limits increase slightly to allow 50 people outdoors and up to 100 indoors.

– Workplaces can function normally if employees have immediate access to a protected area. Large venues, including shopping malls and gyms, are required to follow similar shelter access regulations.

A representative from the Home Front Command emphasized the goal of the directives: to safeguard civilians while maintaining a semblance of normalcy amid ongoing conflicts. The policy is routinely evaluated, taking into consideration rocket alert data and intelligence assessments to adapt to the current situation.

Looking ahead, the directive set to expire on Monday evening may see further easing if rocket fire diminishes. However, officials cautioned that unforeseen escalations could necessitate a swift return to more stringent sheltering protocols.

This careful approach reflects a commitment to balance public safety and daily life during a challenging time, underscoring the resilience of the Israeli population as they navigate this ongoing conflict.
