New allegations of sexual assault have emerged against acclaimed author Neil Gaiman, adding to the nearly dozen accusations already reported. Vulture revealed four new incidents, building upon a prior investigation that outlined five allegations last year. Gaiman, known for works such as “The Sandman,” “Good Omens,” and “American Gods,” faces serious claims from women primarily in their 20s at the time of the alleged assaults, while Gaiman was in his 40s or older.
The new allegations were detailed within a six-episode podcast series from U.K. media outlet Tortoise, scheduled for release in summer 2024. These assertions have been substantiated through a review of various communications, including texts and police correspondences. The youngest of the alleged victims was 18 years old at the time of the incidents.
Among the allegations, one woman, Scarlett Pavlovich, detailed an incident where Gaiman allegedly assaulted her while she was babysitting. Gaiman reportedly joined her in a bath before physically assaulting her and enforcing degrading behavior. Another woman recounted a forced sexual advance on a tour bus, while yet another described a long-term relationship with Gaiman that became increasingly abusive.
Additionally, reports suggest that Gaiman’s behavior, including claims of a lack of boundaries, may have contributed to the dissolution of his marriage to Amanda Palmer in 2022. This has led to significant repercussions for Gaiman’s career, with projects connected to him being paused or reorganized, including the film adaptation of “The Graveyard Book” and a change in the trajectory of the “Good Omens” series.
It is crucial for survivors of sexual violence to seek support. Resources like the National Sexual Assault Hotline provide essential assistance for those affected.
While this situation is deeply troubling, it serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing allegations of misconduct and supporting those who come forward with their stories. The ongoing discussions around predator behavior in the creative industry may pave the way for a more transparent and accountable environment moving forward.
