Retired General Jack Keane has raised alarms about the increasing threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party, emphasizing that the U.S. currently stands as the primary target. He highlighted the urgency of strengthening national defenses to combat what he describes as unprecedented infiltration into American society.
Keane, speaking on “Mornings with Maria,” noted that recent events illustrate the severity of this threat, referring specifically to the interception of Chinese nationals attempting to smuggle biological materials into the U.S. within the last week. He remarked, “China is conducting the most comprehensive penetration of our society since we were formed 250 years ago… and we’ve never seen anything quite like this.”
The general outlined various facets of the threat, including cyber espionage and potential attacks on critical sectors such as food supply, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and transportation. He stressed that these actions could be part of a strategy to weaken American resolve in the event of conflict in the Pacific.
Recently, two individuals were apprehended in Detroit for allegedly attempting to smuggle the crop-destroying fungus Fusarium graminearum, known to cause severe economic losses to major crops such as wheat and rice. This fungus is not only harmful to agriculture but also potentially toxic to humans, raising significant public health concerns.
