Nettles Aims for NCAA Glory as Ball State Shines at Championships

Ball State’s track and field program continues its strong presence at the NCAA outdoor championships, with athlete Nettles set to make her mark in Jacksonville, Florida. This year marks the eighth consecutive participation for Ball State in NCAA outdoor track events since 2017.

Nettles has achieved a personal-best time of 58.96 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles, a feat she accomplished at the University of Central Florida Knights Invitational in late April. This time secured her a spot among 48 competitors at the NCAA East First Round, with the chance to advance to the prestigious NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from June 11-14.

Scheduled for Thursday afternoon, Nettles will compete in the fourth of six heats for the 400-meter hurdles, starting at 4:50 p.m. The East First Round finals will take place on Saturday evening. Additionally, she has already qualified for the NCAA heptathlon finals on June 13-14, which could see her competing in two major events if she advances.

Ball State’s representation at this level showcases the hard work and dedication of its athletes and coaching staff, reflecting a strong commitment to excellence in collegiate athletics. This momentum not only highlights the university’s growing reputation in track and field but also inspires future generations of athletes to strive for greatness.
