Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of “Little House on the Prairie” has expanded its cast with the addition of Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald, and Skywalker Hughes. Bracey, known for his roles in “Elvis” and “Hacksaw Ridge,” will portray Charles Ingalls. Fitzgerald, recognized for his performances in “Palm Royale” and “Abbott Elementary,” will take on the role of Caroline Ingalls. Hughes, who has appeared in “Joe Pickett” and “Ordinary Angels,” will play Mary Ingalls. They join Alice Halsey, who has been previously announced as Laura Ingalls.

This fresh take on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic “Little House” series was first unveiled when the series received a pickup in January. The adaptation promises to blend elements of family drama and survival tale while serving as an origin story of the American West. It aims to provide a dynamic perspective on the challenges and victories faced by those who contributed to shaping the frontier.

Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine will take the helm as executive producer, alongside Joy Gorman Wettels, Trip Friendly, Dana Fox, and Susanna Fogel, with Sarah Adina Smith directing the pilot episode. The production is being managed by CBS Studios and Anonymous Content Studios for Netflix. Notably, Trip Friendly is the son of Ed Friendly, who produced the original “Little House on the Prairie” television series.

Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “Little House” series, which includes eight books published during the 1930s and 1940s, has sold over 73 million copies, highlighting its lasting impact on American culture and literature. This adaptation not only seeks to honor that legacy but also to resonate with a modern audience, reflecting themes that continue to be relevant today.

The casting choices and the creative team behind this project suggest a commitment to bringing depth and emotion to the beloved story, ensuring that it not only pays homage to the original material but also appeals to new generations of viewers.
