Boston College women’s basketball sophomore Nene Ndiaye has been selected to represent Team Senegal in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Pre-Qualifying Tournaments, taking place from August 19 to 25. Senegal’s opening match is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. EST, where they will face Hungary.
Ndiaye enjoyed a promising freshman season, participating in 30 out of 33 games, making one start. She achieved a personal best of 10 points, along with five rebounds, during a game against No. 16 Louisville, where she played a career-high of 24 minutes.
The forward demonstrated her skill at the free-throw line, achieving an impressive 82.9 percent success rate by making 29 of her 35 attempts.
Senegal is competing in Group C, which includes strong opponents such as Brazil, Hungary, and the Philippines. This group has been labeled the “Group of Death” due to the presence of three teams ranked within the top 30 globally. All matches from the tournament will be available for streaming on FIBA’s YouTube Channel.
The tournament also features other groups: Group A consists of Korea, Mali, Czechia, and Venezuela; Group B includes Mexico, Montenegro, New Zealand, and Mozambique; while Group D has Rwanda, Great Britain, Argentina, and Lebanon.
