Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes faced their first road challenge of the season against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, although it was Nebraska that emerged victorious.

The final score was Nebraska 28, Colorado 10.

Colorado’s quarterback Shedeur Sanders struggled throughout the game, getting sacked five times and hitting the sidelines early due to an undisclosed injury. Ryan Staub took over at quarterback but fumbled on a critical play near the end of the game.

The Colorado offense finally managed to score in the fourth quarter after an impressive six-play, 58-yard drive led by Shedeur Sanders, which concluded with a five-yard touchdown pass to LaJohntay Wester. However, Nebraska maintained a significant lead at 28-10 with just over eight minutes left in the game.

In the third quarter, Colorado finally got on the scoreboard when Alejandro Mata kicked a 27-yard field goal after the defense forced Nebraska into a three-and-out, bringing the score to 28-3.

Injury concerns surfaced for Colorado when starting safety Shilo Sanders departed early in the first half. At halftime, Deion Sanders confirmed that Shilo would not return due to what was suspected to be a broken forearm.

The first half ended poorly for Colorado, with kicker Jace Feely missing a 61-yard field goal attempt just before the break. Nebraska capped off the half with a touchdown that extended their lead to 28-0 after a tipped pass led to an 18-yard touchdown from quarterback Dylan Raiola to Rahmir Johnson.

Colorado’s struggles continued as they had a field goal blocked after what was their best offensive drive of the half, with Nebraska up 21-0 at that point. Nebraska dominated the game early on, scoring a touchdown after a 49-yard drive, with their second touchdown coming from a pick-six by Tommi Hill.

Despite the loss, the game drew interest from NFL scouts, with representatives from several teams in attendance, eager to catch a glimpse of potential draft picks including Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Colorado had won the last three matchups against Nebraska, but the Cornhuskers showcased their strength this season.

The Buffaloes now look to rebound as they prepare for their next game against Colorado State.
