In a commanding performance, the No. 13 Nebraska Cornhuskers triumphed over New Hampshire with an 86-55 win on Tuesday night, marking another significant milestone in their season. Pryce Sandfort led the charge with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Nebraska’s defense shined by limiting New Hampshire to a mere 15 percent shooting in the second half.
With this victory, the Huskers improved to an impressive 13-0, completing their non-conference slate with an unblemished 11-0 record. This marks the first time since the 1928-29 season that Nebraska has achieved such success in non-conference play.
After a tightly contested first half, where Nebraska took a slight 41-38 lead into halftime, the Huskers exploded in the second half. They outscored the Wildcats 45-17, including a staggering 23-5 run early in the period. This dominant stretch featured a remarkable 19-1 run, and New Hampshire found themselves unable to sink a shot, missing their first 11 attempts of the half as Nebraska’s defense tightened its grip.
Alongside Sandfort, contributions came from Braden Frager, who scored 15 points; Berke Buyuktuncel with 14; and Rienk Mast, who added 10 points. Sam Hoiberg nearly joined the double-digit scorers, finishing with eight points and a career-high 10 rebounds, underlining Nebraska’s dominance on the boards with a 44-33 advantage.
The Huskers also showcased their strength at the free-throw line, attempting a season-high 35 shots and converting 27 times. Notably, senior forward Ugnius Jarusevicius made a successful return from injury, contributing seven points, two rebounds, and two blocks in just over 10 minutes of play.
Jack Graham led New Hampshire with 17 points, while R.J. Kennedy supported with 11, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Nebraska’s powerful play.
Looking ahead, the Cornhuskers will continue their home stand against No. 9 Michigan State on Friday evening. The game, set for an 8 p.m. tip-off, is sold out and will be available for viewing on Peacock and via the Huskers Radio Network.
With an unwavering focus and resilience, Nebraska is poised to carry its momentum into the next match, echoing a hopeful sentiment for their fans and players alike.
