A new tradition has emerged in Nebraska football that has quickly become a hallmark of the Huskers’ storied program. Known as “The Walk,” this ritual involves fans creating a tunnel to welcome the team as they arrive at Memorial Stadium. Players step off the bus approximately two hours and 15 minutes before each home game and are greeted by a sea of fans sporting team colors.
Freshman running back Brandon Jackson recounted his initial reaction, saying, “I was kind of scared to get off the bus,” overwhelmed by the enthusiastic crowd. As he exited, he noted the impressive sight of thousands of fans, all clad in red, cheering them on. The tunnel created by the fans calls to mind a celebratory atmosphere, leading the players toward the South Stadium locker room.
Jackson described the experience as extremely motivating, expressing his gratitude for the support from fans who come out to cheer before the game. The love and dedication of Husker fans are well-known in college football circles, and this new tradition highlights the special connection between the team and its supporters. Jackson added that he had heard stories about the passionate fans but never truly expected such a powerful display of loyalty, declaring it a “dream” come true.
