Billups and Rozier have been placed on immediate leave due to the allegations against them. Billups’ role as head coach of the Trail Blazers has been temporarily filled by Thiago Splitter.
Rozier, specifically, is under scrutiny for actions during a game on March 23, 2023, implicating him in a betting scheme where he allegedly informed a friend of his intention to exit the game early, impacting betting outcomes. This case is notably connected to the same investigation that led to the lifetime ban of former Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter for leaking confidential information and betting on games.
